RHYTHM & MOTION FUSION

RHYTHM & MOTION: FUSION with Nehemiah Aldrich, Dudley Flores and Leila Easa
Saturday, August 19
10:00-11:00am
Yerba Buena Gardens (East Garden)

Named San Francisco’s favorite dance workout, Rhythm & Motion classes pair the challenge of learning choreography and movement technique with the dance-floor euphoria of a good party. Teachers are encouraging trained dancers, classes are heart-pumping but low-pressure, and everyone leaves sweaty and smiling. All are welcome!

Nehemiah Aldrich's passion is contemporary dance performance, but it is built on a classical ballet foundation. Beginning with the San Francisco Ballet School and the Academy of Ballet, Nehemiah also participated in intensives with The Ailey School, The Place (London), LINES Ballet, Mark Morris, ODC, New Adventures (London), Boston Ballet and Henny Jurriëns Studio (Amsterdam). In addition, Nehemiah has been a regular at Rhythm and Motion classes for years. After receiving a BFA in Contemporary Dance Performance Cum Laude from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Nehemiah was an apprentice dancer with Compañía caraBdanza in Madrid, Spain. Nehemiah currently serves as Director of Performing Arts (Dance, Music and Theatre) at the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Francisco's Don Fisher Clubhouse.

With a lot of passion, and a lot less experience, Dudley Flores started his “official” career in dance when he trained to be a Rhythm & Motion instructor in 2000. After studying biology in college and a year as a passenger service agent with American Airlines at SFO, he became a freelance “commercial industry” dancer and appeared in large-scale corporate and fashion events, television, commercials, independent and feature films, print ads and behind recording artists. Later, his focus turned toward contemporary dance where he performed nationally and internationally with prominent San Francisco choreographers and companies, including: Janice Garrett and Charles Moulton, Robert Moses’ KIN, ODC/Dance, Stacey Printz, KT Nelson and Nol Simonse.

Leila Easa started dancing as a two-year old and has hardly stopped since. Growing up in Hawaii, she studied hula along with modern, tap, jazz, and hip hop. In college she minored in dance and choreography, and as an adult taught and choreographed for children at Steppin' Out Dance Studio and Linda Bulgo's Musical Theater Productions. Leila is a certified yoga and Zumba teacher who joined the teaching family at Rhythm & Motion in 2019, and has been an obsessively enthusiastic student since 2012.
