UPDATE (Friday 6/24): We are now at capacity for volunteers. Thank you everyone!!!

UPDATE (Tuesday 6/21):

We have received our parade packet, and our line-up number is #208. Clearly, they've decided to save the best for last!

Going from contingent #8 last year to #208 this year is a huge leap to the rear of the parade. Looking back at previous years, we were contingent #88 in 2013, #181 in 2014, and in 2010 we were 120something. In the spirit of fairness, it is now our turn to help bring up the rear with what Pride organizers and judges expect from us - a high-energy presence that “brings it every year.” Let’s give the crowd, and judges, something to wait for and remember.

Whether #1 or #250+, every contingent and person is there to share a message of support, hope, joy, freedom of self-expression and love. Thank you for being a part of that message.

Call time is 12:30 pm. (Registrants will receive an email with our exact meeting spot.) At 1 pm, we will have our final pre-performance rehearsal with the full contingent. We will organize into groups and rows, assign instructor leads, practice transitions, practice our performance for the judges and grandstands, and learn the simple movement for our “rest song.” We’ll have a lot of info to pass along, as well as movements to practice, so this will certainly keep us focused (and occupied) as we wait our turn to join the parade. Volunteers will meet with Leigh while the dancers practice.

For anyone who wants to warm-up with a class, you have time to take a Rhythm & Motion class at 8:45am or 10am at ODC. Some instructors will teach the Pride routines in their classes that morning, so it could be an opportunity to get more acquainted with the steps and sequence. We’ll let you know who’ll be teaching the routines later this week.

This is your chance to dance your heart out for an enthusiastic crowd, through the center of the city and alongside your friends, teachers and classmates! The parade theme this year is "For Racial and Economic Justice," and we'll be performing three fun, energetic routines celebrating diversity, community, and the joy of dance. Learn the routines in select Rhythm & Motion classes throughout the month of June and at our two pre-parade rehearsals. It's going to be a blast!

Check out the video from last year's parade, when we won the TOP prize of Absolutely Fabulous Overall Contingent. See how much fun everyone is having? Be a part of that amazingness this year!! Everyone is welcome.

We need more volunteers to help us keep our group moving smoothly. Please invite friends and family to come out and support our group. They'll have a great time! Volunteers can use the same registration link as above. Feel free to email Leigh or call 415-549-8525 for more information about volunteering.

We will be performing three routines this year, plus a rest song when we'll catch our breath and guzzle water. Learn all three routines in class and via the links below:

Learning the routines online is great, but there's no substitute for the in-person practices, where our Artistic Director and contingent leader Dudley Flores will go over many parade-day logistics and tips about how to perform the choreography successfully in a parade environment. The practices are also when we'll hand out the shirts! Ideally, you can make both practices, but if you can only make one, that's okay too. Both rehearsals will be held at ODC Dance Commons at 351 Shotwell Street in San Francisco.

  • Sunday, June 19 from 12-2pm
  • Saturday, June 25 from 2-4pm (this one might change to 12-2pm - stay tuned!!)

We should hopefully know our parade line-up number the week of June 6th. That number will determine where we are in the parade, when we will meet up, and how long the whole shebang will take. We will post more info here as soon as we learn it. (For reference, last year we were #8, which was FANTASTIC. Very smooth and easy. The year before, we were #183.)

Thank you to those who have registered to volunteer! We are so appreciative, and couldn't possibly do this without your help. Here's how to participate:

  1. Register here.
  2. Watch this 9-minute training video.
  3. Answer a brief 5-question survey.
  4. Email Leigh to let her know once you've completed the online survey.
  5. Pick up your shirt at one of our two rehearsals listed above, or swing by the R&M office during regular business hours. (Rehearsals are not required for volunteers.)
  6. Check this page for additional information leading up to parade day.
