Aimee Zawitz is a San Francisco native with a dance background in the folkloric styles of Haitian and Cuban as well as extensive study of West African, Bhangra, Sylvestre technique, and Samba. Aimee has danced with Valerie Watson’s Alafia Dance Ensemble, Djenane St. Juste’s Afoutayi, Temistocles Fuentes Betancourt’s Grupo Nago Experimental, Katy Alanis Rous’ World Dance Fusion, Susana Arenas Pedroso's Dance Company, and is currently working with Tanilee Amor’s Amor do Samba, Joti Singh’s Duniya Drum and Dance Co., Alta California, and her own dance company, The Trapsettaz Dancehall Crew. Aimee started taking R&M classes many years ago and fell in love with the freedom, energy, openness, and fun of the dance and instructors. She enjoyed being able to move in all types of ways without judgement from her fellow dancers. An instructor since 2014, Aimee hopes to pass on this love, energy, and expression with her own students and to continue the wonderful legacy of the R&M culture.
