The laws of Rhythm & Motion:

Rhythm beats strong in every heart

A body in motion tends to stay in motion.

Energy creates energy.

Anyone can dance.

 

Rhythm & Motion's Dance Workout is a high energy dance-based workout class founded in 1979 by dancer and choreographer, Consuelo Faust.  What differentiates our program from other workout programs is the musically driven choreography taught by well-known Bay Area dancers, choreographers and performers. 

The choreography is drawn from a broad range of movement disciplines, including hip hop, jazz, African, modern Latin and is inspired by an eclectic mix of international and popular mix.   These classes develop fitness through dance and creative physical expression.  We offer four kinds of classes within the program:  try one that best fits your dance desires!

Fusion Rhythms

A fusion of dance styles in an invigorating, challenging and extraordinarily fun one-our workout.  Classes begin with a warm-up that emphasizes technique and builds to high energy dancing, which increases in stamina and strength.  The workout concludes with a floor combination for strengthening and stretching the abdomen, legs and arms. 

Modern Rhythms

An energetic workout that integrates the best of contemporary movement from across many movement disciplines.  Build core technique through floor-barre inspired choreography.  Then, take that deep strength into standing choreography: warm-ups that build technical skills and get you moving, culminating in choreography that moves you across the floor, around the room - dances that lift the energy for the entire class.

Essential Fusion Rhythms & Essential Modern Rhythms

Essential Rhythms is an excellent introductory class for students new to the workout program, and is ideal for all Rhythm & Motion students who wish to focus more intently on workout choreography and on the fundamentals of dance technique.

For beginners:  It is the perfect introduction to the Rhythm & Motion Dance Workout Program.

For current students:  It is an excellent way to acquire deeper understanding of the Fusion Rhythms & Modern Rhythms choreography and technique.
